Allegheny County police are investigating after a bicyclist died after hitting downed power lines in North Park Tuesday evening.County dispatch was informed of the incident around 8:22 p.m., along Pearce Mill Road near Olympia Grove. Police, firefighters and paramedics found a man down among the wires.First responders couldn’t get to the man at first because of the live wires. Duquesne Light Company crews came to the scene to cut power to the area.The man was pronounced dead at the scene. We are deeply saddened by this tragic accident and our hearts go out to his family during this difficult time.We are working closely with local emergency responders and park officials to investigate the incident.The lines in that area have been de-energized and cut away. Storm restoration continues throughout the region following Monday evening’s storms and the ongoing heat wave. Please avoid all downed wires and call 9-1-1 immediately." Pittsburgh's Action News 4 reached out to DLC for comment. A spokesperson for the company released the following statement late Tuesday evening:

"At approximately 8:30 p.m., Duquesne Light Company (DLC) was notified that a bicyclist came into contact with live electrical wires on a bike trail near Pearce Mill Road in North Park. The individual was electrocuted and has passed away. We are deeply saddened by this tragic accident and our hearts go out to his family during this difficult time.
